Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991, often referred to professionally under the surname Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released on the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released in May 7th, 2019. Ari Lennox released her debut songs online in the year 2012. She released the single Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she dropped more music via the Internet including Bound. In the year 2015, she was featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on the track "Sweat it out" on 21st July. J. Cole, who was a part of the Dreamville crew back then would like to see her do some Rihanna references. On December 8 it was confirmed that she had been hired by Dreamville Records. The album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat alongside Cozz. In the month of October she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018 she went on to be a guest on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's album debut Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream, from the album came out the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a the music video. On the 9th of November she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, No One and Pedigree. Then she appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, which was then released as a single on February 26, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same title. The music video debuted on 20 February 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within the first week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. She was the support act for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
